The Sacramento Fire Department is pleased to announce that on August 15, 2011 at 2:00pm, the City of Sacramento's newest fire station, Station #43, located at 4201 El Centro Road (just north of Arena Blvd), was put into service and is now responding to calls, protecting the West Natomas community and surrounding areas. The Fire Station houses an Engine company which is staffed by four personnel.

The addition of Fire Station #43 brings the total number of active fire stations to 24. Fire Chief Ray S. Jones stated, "We are very excited about this new addition which will increase our level of service and fire protection in the north area and throughout the city."

Councilmember Ashby said, "The addition of fire station 43 will help reduce response times for residents on the west side of I-5 and will bring a renewed sense of hope and confidence in quality of life for Natomas residents." A dedication and grand opening ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, September 17, 2011.

The ceremony will begin at 11:00am and will be followed by an open house lasting until 1:00pm. Sacramento Fire Department personnel will be on hand during the event to answer questions and provide information about the new facility, emergency response equipment, and fire safety.
