Sacramento Firefighters Extinguish Suspicious Brush Fire

Sacramento Firefighters responded to a brush fire at 130 North 12th Street just after 8 p.m. Saturday evening.  According to Sacramento Fire Department PIO Jonathan Burgess, fire crews arrived within four minutes of dispatch and found the Sims Metal Management business being threatened by the fire.

Additional fire companies were requested to protect the threatened building and assist initial fire crews with extinguishment.  A total of five companies and twenty-four firefighters from the Sacramento Fire Department responded to the incident, and the fire was brought under control and extinguished without damage to the building.

There were no firefighter or civilian injuries.  The cause of the fire is under investigation and has been deemed suspicious because of a witness who reported seeing suspects starting the fire.  In addition, one hour earlier Sacramento Firefighters extinguished another grass fire near North 7th and B Streets.
