Sacramento Metro Fire Receives Grant
The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District has received a grant from Fireman's Fund. The $7,000 grant will be used to provide the Sacramento Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Task Force 7's canine team with agility training equipment, according to a news release from Sacramento Metro Fire. The Sacramento City Fire Department was also given a grant for the equal amount for their canine program that also serves Task Force 7. These teams search for trapped victims in rubble after a disaster either natural or man made. With the new equipment that comes from the grant, the two agencies will be able to provide a higher level of training to their search teams to serve their community in the event of a disaster.
