San Diego Fire-Rescue to Receive $74,000 of Donated Equipment
The San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation will donate $74,000 worth of new equipment to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Department's training facility, 2580 Kincaid Road. The Department will receive 72 new VHF radios and an Interstate Paratech Shoring Kit used to stabilize cars after traffic accidents to allow for extrication and treatment of passengers. Firefighters will demonstrate the shoring kit after the announcement. In numerous incidents the Department's Technical Rescue Team is challenged with large obstacles and in many cases is it difficult to provide the highest level of safety. This donated shoring system can support up 120,000 pounds, enabling rescuers to support a vehicle and effectively complete a rescue. Author:San Diego Fire-Rescue Press Release
