Scott Fire in Reche Canyon 60 Percent Contained
The Scott Fire in the Reche Canyon section of Colton, California is 60% contained as of 6 p.m. this evening, according to CAL FIRE. The 125 acre fire began this afternoon at Reche Canyon Road and Scotch Lane, and at one point hundreds of structures were threatened. 181 firefighters, 26 engines, 2 airtankers, 2 helicopters and 2 dozers from CAL FIRE San Bernardino Unit, CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department, Colton City Fire, San Bernardino County Fire and the Loma Linda Fire Department responded to the wildfire. Firefighters contended with winds as they battled the blaze but were able to eliminate the threat to the homes. CAL FIRE is predicting that the Scott Fire will be fully contained by 8 p.m. tonight. The California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino County Comm Center have also assisted with this incident, providing law enforcement and communications support.
