Seattle Medics Transport Driver After Car and Train Collide in South Lake Union
At 10:20 a.m. on January 15, 2012, Seattle Firefighter were called to the intersection of Westlake Avenue North and Mercer Street for a heavy rescue. The caller stated a car and a train collided in the South Lake Union intersection. Engine Company 2 arrived to find the female driver of the car has self-extricated. The woman, in her early 30's, complained of minor injuries and was transported to Harborview Medical Center. The South Lake Union Street Car operator and two passengers did not need any medical attention. The 600 thousand pound train was dislodged from the tracks and blocked Westlake Avenue North for several hours. Author:Seattle Fire Department Press Release
