Shannon Stone, Firefighter and Baseball Fan Laid To Rest
Shannon Stone was remembered Monday by his friends and firefighting colleagues as a man who loved to joke around and loved baseball. Stone, 39, died last week after falling while reaching to catch a ball for his 6-year-old son, Cooper at a Texas Rangers game. More than 60 emergency vehicles from all over Texas led an eight mile procession through Brownwood following a service at the First United Methodist Church attended by more than 1,000 people. Residents lined the streets waving flags or just standing by to show support as the slow procession passed. Stone was a member of the Brownwood Fire Department for 18 years, rising to the rank of lieutenant. He leaves behind his widow, Jenny and his son, Cooper. A couple of memorial funds have been set up, information is available in the video below. Author:Barbara Brooks - Fire Department Network News
