Shreveport Crews Extinguish Vehicle Fire That Damaged Home
The Shreveport Fire Department responded to 604 Central Street on the afternoon of January 9, 2012 at 1:06 PM for a reported house fire. Crews arrived there within in two minutes to find a one story wood frame home with a vehicle and the carport where it was parked on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished and placed under control at 1:22 PM. The home had no utilities at the time. The homeowner and a friend were working on the vehicle under the carport and had placed a container of gasoline near the car. During the maintenance work an ignition source ignited the gasoline and caused the fire causing heavy fire damage to the vehicle, carport and two adjacent rooms in the home. There were no injuries.
