Shreveport Graduates Two Classes
The Shreveport Fire Department (SFD) will graduate two basic classes in one ceremony tonight. Members of SFD's 54th and 55th Basic Class will take the stage at 6:30 p.m. at the Summer Grove Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana and receive station assignments immediately following the ceremony, according to a news release from SFD. According to the department, each of the 15 graduates, 14 Shreveport firefighter recruits and one Caddo Fire District 5 firefighter recruit, have successfully passed either a five-week abbreviated version of the the department's training or the normal 20 week training class. The classes consist of a variety of fire and emergency disciplines including fire science, advanced fire fighting, search and rescue, emergency medicine and hazardous materials.
