The Shreveport Fire Department was dispatched to 934 Portland Street at 11:32 pm late Tuesday, November 15, 2011 to a reported house fire.

Fire crews from Station 4 on Milam Street arrived on scene within three minutes to find a one story wood frame home with flames showing from the rear of the home and heavy smoke coming from all openings.

Engine Four's crews went on fire attack immediately and conducted a primary search to ensure there was no one inside. Neighbors on scene later reported the home was not occupied. Two more crews assisted Engine Four and the fire was brought under control at 11:53 pm.

The home was vacant at the time of the fire but did have utilities and had recently been renovated with improvements based on evidence at the scene and information gathered from neighbors.

The fire started in the rear of the home in a bathroom and the home suffered heavy fire damage to the bathroom and adjacent rooms in the rear of the home.

There were no injuries and the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
