At 1:30 a.m. on November 21, 2011, Shreveport Police along with Shreveport Fire investigators arrested Bryan Cavey, a 25 year old white male of the 9300 block of Riva Ridge, for simple arson. Cavey is charged with intentionally setting fire to landscape at the Orleans Square Apartments in the 8500 block of Jackson Square, which caused more than $1,000 in estimated damage.

At 12:32 a.m., Shreveport Firefighters were dispatched to the apartment complex, and within minutes the fire was under control. While working the fire, the Shreveport Police was also dispatched to the scene to investigate a report of suspicious activity in the area prior to the fire. SPD officers found Cavey, who fit the description of the targeted suspect, hiding behind a neighboring building.

Findings from on-scene interviews led police to arrest and charge Cavey for simple arson which carries the penalty of a fine not more than fifteen thousand dollars and imprisoned at hard labor for not less than two years nor more than fifteen years where the damage done amounts to five hundred dollars or more.

Fire Investigators are conducting further interviews to determine if Cavey has been involved in other arson fires in southeast Shreveport over the past 30-60 days.
