"Station Retablo" Selected for 2010 Los Angeles Juried Exhibition
"Station Retablo," the massive three-panel artwork by artist Fred Chuang on permanent loan to the Department, was recently selected among 83 two-dimensional works and 25 three-dimensional works from some 1,183 entries to be exhibited to a wide audience at the 2010 Los Angeles Juried Exhibition, a biennial show hosted by the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs at the organization's Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery at Barnsdall Park.

"Come see it in its finished state and under proper lighting," Chuang says. "Station Retablo," which depicts scenes from the Station Fire of 2009 and the artist's own vision, will be ready to install at Department Headquarters following the closing of the current showing at Barnsdall Park.

The work will be on "permanent loan" to the Department with the stipulation that any proceeds from selling it will include its donation to LACoFD. "Should the piece not be purchased and donated to the Department by the time of my death, my estate will make a permanent donation of the piece to the Department."
