Spring Valley, California

Boots on the ground, helicopters in the air worked together to keep a fast moving vegetation fire at five acres. While 25 homes in the Dictionary Hill area were ordered evacuated, no structures were damaged and no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation; however officials say it is "suspicious" in nature.

In addition to the San Miguel Fire District, crews from La Mesa, Lemon Grove, El Cajon and CALFIRE brought the total number of people on the fire line to about 50.

Two helicopters from the City of San Diego and one from the Sheriffs department dropped water and place hand crews on the ground to help protect structures.

The fire was reported at 3:17 PM on July 25, forward movement of the fire was stopped about an hour later. Mop up operations will continue until about 8PM tonight.

The fire started in brush near an apartment complex on the 9200 block of Amy Street, and that is where the investigation is centered.
