TVF&R Battles 2 Alarm Blaze in 3 Story Apartment Building
Firefighters from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue responded to and extinguished a 2 alarm apartment fire on November 5, 2011. Quick action by firefighters prevented the large and fast moving fire from damaging the entire apartment building. Unfortunately, 3 units are seriously damaged. No one was injured. 911 dispatchers received multiple calls at 7:47 p.m. reporting a fast moving fire at an apartment complex located at 8333 SW Pointer Way in Washington County. Firefighters arrived several minutes later to find flames and smoke racing up the rear of a 3 story apartment building. The fire was quickly upgraded to a 2 alarm fire, bringing more resources to the scene. As firefighters worked to determine no one was inside the affected units, another engine company pulled a 2 1/2 inch hose to the back of the building and quickly began knocking down the flames. More firefighters entered the affected units and extinguished the fire. No one was injured during the fire and damage was limited to three apartment units. One of those units was vacant. A team of investigators is working to determine the cause of the fire. Approximately 50 personnel from TVF&R and Portland Fire and Rescue responded to the fire.
