The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund had a successful year in 2009, raising money to help the families of fallen and injured firefighters and underfunded fire departments in need of life-saving equipment.  2010 has started out to be another great year for the non-profit organization.

Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund

The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund was founded by the family of fallen FDNY Firefighter Terry Farrell, who perished at the World Trade Center.  With its headquarters in the New York City area, the fund has several chapters throughout the United States.  Each chapter raises money for firefighters' families and fire departments in their respective states.

California Chapter

One of these chapters is in California, and in 2009 they raised an impressive $30,000.  About the new year, Mike O'Connor of the Board of Directors for the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund of California says, "2010 is another adventurous year for the Terry Farrell Fund.  We're hoping to expand our horizons and do some more fundraisers and give away some more money."

Fundraising Events

The California Chapter recently hosted a comedy show, one of several events planned to help raise money for the families of four firefighters who died in the line of duty.

The California Chapter also hosted a booth at the Firehouse World Expo in San Diego this year.  There they sold the newest edition of their organization's t-shirts and copies of their cookbook, "The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund California Firehouse Cookbook and What Inspires Our Local Heroes".  Jim Beam, one of the group's fundraising partners, also attended the expo to help raise awareness of and funds for the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund.  The Jim Beam Girls were on hand to take pictures with and sign posters for their firefighter fans.

Corporate Sponsorship

Jim Beam has been a long-time supporter of the Terry Farrell Fund, and its 2009 Special Edition Jim Beam Bottles featuring a Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund label raised a significant amount of money for the organization.  The bottle will not be available in 2010; however, Jim Beam will continue to support the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund in many other ways, according to Mike O'Connor, and the group is very grateful for Jim Beam's involvement in their fundraising efforts.

The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund is looking for additional corporate sponsorship for 2010.  Companies interested in partnering with the organization can contact the national headquarters for the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund at (516) 783-1996 or terryfund@verizon.net.
