At Killarney's Irish Pub and Grill in Temecula, California, members of the California Chapter of the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund recently held a fundraiser to support the families of firefighters in need.  Firefighters, along with their families and friends and members of their local community gathered for an evening of dinner, drinks, music and raffles, all in support of this charity that provides aid to the firefighting community.

Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund

The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund was established in 2002 by the family of Terry Farrell, an FDNY firefighter with Rescue 4 and Fire Chief of the Dix Hills Volunteer Fire Department who perished at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.  The organization collects donations and uses all of the money that they receive to help families of fallen firefighters with medical and educational needs and fire departments that are in need of equipment that they could not otherwise afford.  The Fund is based in New York, however, it has several chapters across the United States.

California Chapter Fundraisers

Michael O'Connor, member of the California Chapter of the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund, says, "The money we raise in California stays in California.  Like these past couple of fundraisers, we've raised $1,500.  We sent a check up to Weaverville for Robert Smith who developed cancer . . . Also, John Nunes died in Costa County, a line of duty death, and what we do is there's no red tape.  We sent money up right away to the family for that."

Killarney's donated a portion of the food and beverage receipts to the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund.  Denise Munson, Partner at Killarney's Irish Pub and Grill, comments, "It's for a great fund and . . . it's local firefighters that's gonna benefit from this even though the fund is a United States Fund.  So, that's what made me decide I wanted to do this particular charity because I wanted to make sure that we kept our money here and supported all of us locally."

Jim Beam's Support of the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund

Beam Global Spirits and Wine is a major supporter of the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund.  For the last several years the company has manufactured specially labeled bottles for the charity.  John Colston, another member of the California Chapter of the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund, explains, "Jim Beam is a[n] American Company, long history in the south . . .  tremendous supporter of various different organizations.  They have a new promotional campaign going on called 'Answer the Call' . . . Terry [Farrell Firefighters Fund] is part of that group and they have changed the label to honor Terry.  They've changed it each year.  This'll be the fourth year that the label has changed, so, it's become . . . a collector's item for anybody who wants to continually support the fund."  The bottles were available to the public throughout the summer.
