Total of 8 Residents Displaced Due to Ventura Blaze
Ventura City Fire Department responded to a reported residential structure fire in the Ventura Avenue area on January 23, 2012.

First arriving firefighters discovered a duplex with smoke and flames showing from a rear unit. Firefighters began an aggressive attack on the fire and were able to knock the fire down and limit the fire damage to a portion of the involved rear unit and not extend into the second unit.

The involved unit sustained heavy smoke and heat damage. Fire investigators determined the cause to be electrical. Damage estimated at $150,000 to the structure and $50,000 to the contents.

Both units were deemed uninhabitable until further assessment of the electrical system can be accomplished.

There were a total of 8 residents displaced from the 2 units. Accommodations for the displaced residents were arranged by the Ventura Housing Authority.
