Tour of Duty Run Video Journal: Oklahoma City and Dallas
The Tour of Duty has made it about halfway across the United States. Thirty-six firefighters and police officers from Australia and the United States are participating in this moving tribute to the 411 emergency service workers that lost their lives on 9/11. It began in Santa Monica, California on August 12, 2010 and will end in New York City on September 11, 2010. Watch the video below to see how earlier in the week, they ran into Oklahoma City and paid their respects to all who lost their lives in the first terrorist attach on the United States. From there it was on to Dallas, Houston and New Orleans. They arrived in the Big Easy during the 5-year Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Along with honoring all who were lost on September 11th, the run also acknowledges emergency service workers around the world and works to raise money for charities in both the United States and Australia. Money raised from donors in the United States will go to charities in the U.S. the Tour of Duty has selected including, the Tribute WTC Visitors Center, the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, the Wounded Warrior Project, the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Money raised from donors in Australia will go to Australia Burns Units.
