Tulsa Firefighters vs. Police "Ringing the Bell" Results

Last Friday Tulsa Firefighters and Tulsa Police Officers competed at Woodland Hills Mall. They were ringing the bell and helping fill the kettles for the Salvation Army. Major Roy Williams, Tulsa Area Commander for the Salvation Army announced the results today.

In a reversal of last years competition the Tulsa FireFighters out collected the Cops. The FireFighters collected $2,772 while the Cops collected $1396. Together, volunteers from these two fine organizations, raised $4,168 dollars to help the citizens of Tulsa. The Salvation Army thanks members of both organizations, and the citizens of Tulsa for their generosity of time and finances during this Christmas Season.

A new partnership has been formed between the University of California San Diego, CAL FIRE, and San Diego County that is helping CAL FIRE/San Diego County FIre Authority to monitor the rural areas of San Diego, California for wildfires. The project, known as FireSite, is using webcams to show firefighters, Incident Commanders and dispatchers a real time, 360 degree view of areas that were previously difficult to view.
