Virginia Firefighters Battle Woods Fire
Fire crews worked through last Thursday night battling a fire near Suffolk, Virginia. Firefighters from the Suffolk Fire and Rescue, the Holland Volunteer Fire Department, Whaleyville Volunteer Fire Department and Virginia Department of Forestry battled the woods fire Thursday and returned because of a rekindling of the blaze, according to the Suffolk Fire Department. Crews were able to establish a fire break around the fire to prevent spreading. Currently the fire is limited to approximately 50 acres. Firefighters continue to monitor the fire lines and are returning to the site every two to three hours, according to the department.
