Virginia Townhouse Fire Intentionally Set
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a townhouse fire, Saturday, July 30, 2011, at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the Centreville area of Fairfax County, Virginia. The townhouse is located at 14458 Cool Oak Lane. Firefighters reported heavy fire and smoke coming from the first and second floors of the two-story home upon arrival. The Incident Commander struck a second fire alarm, bringing approximately 60 firefighters to the scene. Firefighters conducted an interior fire attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes. Smoke alarms inside the home activated providing early warning for the occupants. Two adults and three children have been displaced. Two adults and one juvenile were also displaced from the basement of the townhouse. Additionally, one adult was displaced from an adjacent townhouse as a result of residual fire damage. Red Cross assistance was declined by all occupants. There were no injuries.
