  A West Las Vegas strip mall was damaged by fire on Sunday, January 8, 2012.  Fire investigators ruled the fire accidental.  There were no injuries reported in connection with the fire.

Firefighters responded to the strip mall which is located on the corner of Revere St. and Hart St. just north of West Lake Mead Bl. at 3:11 p.m.  The one story building at 2027 Revere St is shaped like the letter "L".  It has five businesses including Cotton's Mini Mart, Shoe Shine Emporium, Nu Vizions Hair Salon, Unique Building Co and the Church of Divine Appointment.  Flames and smoke were showing at the roof where the two building come together.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in less than fifteen minutes  The attic area over many of the businesses was damaged by fire, there was minor fire damage on the  front where signs are mounted.  The interior of the businesses had very minor smoke damage and were wet from water from the fire hoses.  There we no fire sprinklers in the building.  The working area of all the businesses and the church were not damaged by the fire.  Damage was estimated at $70,000.

Fire investigators ruled the fire accidental;  they believe it was electrical in nature in the attic area over the businesses and church.

Several people in the hair salon and the church said they smelled something burning for about an hour but thought it was from a nearby barbecue restaurant.  But the smell got stronger and started to smell like wood burning.

At the same time an employee of Unique Building Co. pulled into the parking lot and noticed flames and heavy smoke starting to pour from an opening on the roof.  He alerted the other businesses and church of the fire and then used a garden hose to spray water on the fire until firefighters arrived on scene;

No one was injured because of the fire.  Revere St was closed for about an hour.
