The Wildland Firefighter Foundation (WFF) received a grant from GNW-Evergreen Insurance Services, LLC and Fireman's Fund Insurance Company Saturday. The check was formally presented to the WFF during Firescaping Day, an event held at the Armstrong Garden Center in Claremont, California, according to a news release from WFF.

Members of WFF, firefighters and executives and employees from GNW-Evergreen Insurance Services and Fireman's Fund Insurance Company were on hand for the check presentation. According to WFF, the grant will be used for outreach efforts and to help build up the fund set aside to assist the families of fallen firefighters.

The grant is funded by Fireman's Fund Insurance Company through their Heritage Program, a nationwide philanthropic program that provides needed equipment, training and educational tools to local fire departments. Since 2004, more than 1,500 different departments have received more than $26 million in grant money. Independent insurance agencies and brokers that sell Firemen's Fund products are able to direct these grants to support the fire service.
