Federal Highway Administration's Safety Vest Rule Modified Following Firefighter Concerns

Beginning November 24, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) will require public safety officers, including volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel responding to an incident on the side of a federal highway to wear a reflective safety vest. But, just before the law was to go into effect, there has been an Interim Final Rule issued by the FHWA to address the concerns from the firefighting community, according to the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA).

5.2 million Southern Californians will participate in the Great Southern California ShakeOut, which is the largest earthquake drill in the United States and is based upon the simulation of a 7.8 magnitude earthquake on the San Andreas Fault.
