Auction of Historic Instruments from 2010 Floods Benefits Tennessee Fire Departments

Two years ago this month, torrential rains pounded down on Middle and West Tennessee resulting in heavy flooding of many counties throughout the state. Residents were devastated by the floods and some fire districts lacked the necessary equipment for rescue efforts.

Maricopa firefighters dropped off thousands of can tops in support of the students fundraising efforts for fellow student, 7 year old Semja Rayford, who was recently diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. For the past two weeks, students at the school have been collecting the tops of soda cans to turn in for cash and the Maricopa firefighter were happy to give the collection a little boost.

FDNY Boxing Team Raises Money for Military Hero

All FDNY members know the importance of giving back, and on Apr. 13, 2012 the FDNY Boxing team did just that, donating $6,000 to U.S. Marine First Lieutenant James Byler who was injured while serving in Afghanistan.

The Firefighters Involved in Racing for Education (F.I.R.E.) Racing Team and the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Deputies (L.A.S.D.) Motorsports Team along with other racers will meet at Sunrise Children’s Hospital, 3186 S. Maryland Parkway, at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 12th to deliver toys to hospitalized children.

Lorenzo Abundiz, President and Co-Founder of Code 3 for a Cure Foundation, has created a nonprofit public charity organization. A Santa Ana native, Abundiz created this foundation in order to achieve urgent response to a cure for all cancer.

To provide this week’s update I had the privilege of visiting and spending some time with Kevin O’Toole at Medstar Washington Hospital Center on Thursday. Kevin had just completed a physical therapy session and was sore and in obvious pain.
