Fire-Safety Hazards of Lithium-Ion Batteries Featured in Latest NFPA Journal

The latest issue of the NFPA Journal®, the official magazine of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), focuses on concerns related to fire-safety hazards of lithium-ion battery use in its cover story, “Elemental Questions,” NFPA has conducted research and established several partnerships to study and address fire-safety risks associated with lithium-ion batteries, a fuel source used for hundreds of millions of devices.

On Sunday, March 11, 2012, 1,550 firefighters competed in the Scott Firefighter Stairclimb. The stairclimb is a timed race up the stairs at the Columbia Center in downtown Seattle, Washington in full fire gear and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
