Hope Hose Humane Co. #1 in Bordentown, NJ was recently presented with a refurbished Panasonic Toughbook CF-19. The receipt of this Toughbook was through a need-based program offered on a quarterly basis by Bob Johnson’s Computer Stuff in Smyrna, DE.
San Diego Firefighters & Asian Community Conduct Bone Marrow Drive

Firefighters and Asian community leaders will conduct a bone marrow donation drive and fire station open house on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 9 am to 3 pm, at Fire Station 44 at 10011 Black Mountain Road, San Diego, CA 92126.
Maricopa Fire Supports Fundraiser for Sequoia Pathway Students, Schoolmate Diagnosed with Cancer

Maricopa firefighters dropped off thousands of can tops in support of the students fundraising efforts for fellow student, 7 year old Semja Rayford, who was recently diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. For the past two weeks, students at the school have been collecting the tops of soda cans to turn in for cash and the Maricopa firefighter were happy to give the collection a little boost.

Medtec Ambulance, part of the Oshkosh Corporation [NYSE: OSK] Fire & Emergency segment, delivered seven Medtec M170 Type I ambulances to the Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Department (LVFR) in Las Vegas, Nev. The custom “rescue” ambulances, designed together by LVFR and Medtec, will be placed into service in late April, and deployed throughout the city.
IAFF Succeeds in Easing Normal Retirement Age Regulations

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced April 18, 2012 that it has agreed to overhaul proposed regulations that would have created significant problems for many public sector pension plans. Under the original regulations, all public sector pension plans would have been required to specify a “Normal Retirement Age,” and would not have been allowed to define retirement based on years of service or a combination of age and years of service.
