85 Homes Burn in Detroit

At least 85 homes in Detroit, Michigan burned to the ground over a four hour period Tuesday. Some of those structures were vacant, but some were occupied.

On his way to a Manhattan doctor's appoint, FDNY Lieutenant Luis Corrales witnessed a man collapse and fall onto New York City's Subway tracks. With the help of a good samaritan, Corrales saved the man.

Managers report minimal growth on the Hobble Fire, 18 miles northeast of Williams, after measurable precipitation fell Tuesday. The fire is 950 acres. Most activity is interior smoldering. It will take several dry days before the fire resumes spreading.

IAFF Raises $27.8 Million for Muscular Dystrophy Association

Despite the struggling economy, the public remains generous for a very worthy cause – the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). The Stars Across America MDA Telethon generated $58.9 million in contributions and pledges. And, once again, the IAFF earned the spot of top fundraiser, contributing a total of $27.8 million.
