NIPSTA Firefighter Academy 2010Northern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy NIPSTA is pleased to present four Firefighter Academies in 2010 the only program of its kind. The Academy fulfills the yearround needs of local fire departments and districts. The eightweek curriculum not only meets, but also exceeds, state and national learning objectives. All training is accomplished on the twentyacre NIPSTA Campus, which offers several specialized indoor and outdoor training props.
NIPSTA The Northeastern Illinois Public Safet y Training Academy was founded in 2001 as an intergovernmental agency wit h a mission to deliver highqualit y, costefficient education to the region's public safet y professionals. NIPSTA membership has expanded to include dozens of municipalit ies, fire protection districts, and related organizat ions that share a common object ive. Today, the Academy is recognized as the premier dest inat ion in northeastern Illinois for emergency preparedness and response. FIREFIGHTER ACADEMY The eightweek curriculum will be delivered Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. There will also be occasion for evening activities. GI BILLAPPROVED The NIPSTA Firefighter Academy is approved for enrollment by United States veterans, and their immediate family members, who are eligible for benefit s under the GI Bill, which offers direct financial incent ives to offset the cost of Academy tuit ion. For more information, contact NIPSTA at (847) 9988090. CLOSED CAMPUS St udents in the Firefighter Academy are required to remain on the NIPSTA Campus, which is located in Glenview, Illinois. Daily meal service is not provided, but preparation facilit ies will be made available. LODGING Several nearby hotels offer discounted overnight accommodations to students enrolled in the NIPSTA Firefighter Academy. Visit NIPSTA.org/travel for preferred rates and reservations. VISITATION/REPORTING NIPSTA welcomes onsite visits by departments that sponsor students at the Firefighter Academy. Opportunit ies are available for officers to observe training exercises and interact with students and instructors. Furthermore, frequent reports will be provided to departments as a means of monitoring student progress and proficiency. REGISTRATION Enrollment in the NIPSTA Firefighter Academy requires receipt of the enclosed registration. Confirmation of registration and an invoice requesting payment in full will be sent to the department. This notice will be accompanied by a request for addit ional informat ion, including evidence of employment and insurance, SCBA fit testing, medical evaluation, and a list of equipment and supplies required of the student. CANCELLATION POLICY Enrollment cancellat ions must be received no later than 14 days prior to the first day of the Academy in order to be eligible for 100% refund of the tuition fee. If a cancellat ion notice is received less than 14 days prior to the first day of the Academy, then 50% of the tuition fee shall be due to NIPSTA and may be applied to enrollment in a future Academy. If a cancellation notice is not received by NIPSTA, then 100% of the tuit ion fee shall be due and is not eligible as a credit for enrollment in a future Academy. (no feedback yet) |
