Iredell County, North Carolina fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a massive fire that destroyed a riverfront home Wednesday evening, according to WBTV-TV.

The fire started around 6:15 p.m. on Carriage Road on the Catawba River in Statesville, North Carolina, according to the Charlotte Observer. Firefighters were originally dispatched to a brush fire but when they arrived, flames were shooting through the roof of the home, according to Chief Jerry Houston of the West Iredell Fire Department.

Sixty-five firefighters from West Iredell, Troutman, Catawba and Monticello Fire Departments worked to extinguish the blaze. Eight trucks and a fire boat from Catawba County assisted the firefighters, according to the Observer.

The 1,200 square foot lakefront cottage was completely destroyed.

There were no injuries reported to firefighters or civilians. The owners were not home at the time of the fire.
