Nominations Open for Spirit of Courage Awards
The Burn Institute - Inland Empire is accepting nominations for their 5th annual Spirit of Courage Award honoring heroes from Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. Awards will be given out at their Spirit of Courage awards Banquet on June 20, 2009 at the Highland Springs Resort in Cherry Valley, CA. "The banquet will honor those among us that have preformed an exceptionally courageous act while attempting to save another from death or serious injury by fire or other burn sources," said Gary Stansberry, Executive Director of the Burn Institute - Inland Empire. "The incident must have involved a significant degree of personal risk by the nominee and occurred during the 2008 calendar year. Firefighters and law enforcement officers are eligible to receive the award if their actions are above and beyond the level of commitment normally expected or required in the performance of their daily professional duties," Stansberry stated. The banquet is a black-tie event with special guest speakers, a gourmet meal and special presentations to the award recipients. Individuals, agencies and corporations can sponsor a table or purchase individual tickets to the event. For nomination forms, sponsorship applications or ticket information, contact the Burn Institute-Inland Empire at (909) 519-1063. Nominations will be accepted until May 30, 2009. The Burn Institute-Inland Empire is 501 (c) 3 nonprofit dedicated to preventing fires and burn injuries within the Inland Empire, providing burn survivor programs and services and assisting in burn research.
