Hermosa Beach Firefighters Support Little League
Hermosa Beach Firefighters recently held a fundraiser, "Night at the Ballpark" to help their local Little League. Hermosa Beach Little League learned last December that they were owed more than $10,000 from an online credit card processing company, according to Cheryl Cross of the Hermosa Beach Firefighters Association. This problem has plagued Little Leagues across the country, some are owed more than $100,000. Huntington Beach Little League had enough cash reserves to cover their operating expenses for this season. But, the reserves for the 52-year-old league had to be replaced. More than 600 tickets were pre-sold to the exhibition softball game between the Hermosa Beach Firefighters and members of the Hermosa Beach Little League Junior Division. Food was donated by Salt Creek Grille and all money from the sale of the food went to the Little League. The Hermosa Beach Firefighters Association sold limited edition Hermosa Beach Fire Jersey's with a portion of the proceeds going to the League, according to Cross. A movie was shown at the park and a camp out topped off the evening. "The Hermosa Beach Firefighters Association has a long history of supporting local area athletics programs. We had a great time playing softball against the League's Junior Division," Brian Grebbien, HBFA President said. "Those kids are strong and talented and certainly challenged us to play our best. We look forward to more opportunities to support the HBLL." Photo Credit: Cheryl Cross Author:Barbara Brooks - FDNNTV.com
