At the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) Jim Beam showed its expanded 2009 support for firefighters and their partnership with the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund. The Fund was established in memory of FDNY Firefighter Terry Farrell, who perished on September 11, 2001 in the attacks on the World Trade Center. The Fund assists firefighters and their families with educational, medical and equipment needs.

During their first-time attending FDIC, Fred Noe, seventh-generation distiller of Jim Beam presented a check for $26,600 to Brian Farrell of the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund. This money will go to support Indiana firefighters.

Jim Beam is helping the Fund expand nationally by releasing a limited-edition, commemorative bottle of bourbon in support of the Terry Farrell Fund in June. Their goal this year is to donate $100,000 in addition to the $200,000 already given over the past four years. Their donations to the Fund support the fire departments of communities carrying the commemorative bottles. Jim Beam plans to distribute 36,000 cases of commemorative bottles carrying the special Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund emblem. This is six times the amount of cases distributed last year, according to Jim Beam.

Where or how can the bottles be purchased? ~ Chris
The bottles can be purchased at retailers in certain areas of the United States. They are not being distributed everywhere, though. I know that they are/will be distributed in the Indianapolis area and the San Diego area; however, I am not sure of the full roster of cities where they will be released. Go to www.terryfarrellfund.org for more information on the fund. In the meantime, I will see if I can obtain the full list of cities. If so, I will post it here for everyone. Thanks! ~ Karen Batista, Editor, FDNNTV.com
The Terry Farrell Fund has provided me with this list of states where the bottles will be available (and in a few cases, names of cities where they will be). Here is the list: Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Texas, Kansas, Nebraska (Omaha), North Dakota (Fargo), South Dakota (Sioux City), Wisconsin (Madison and Milwaukee), Missouri (St. Louis and Kansas City), Minnesota (Minneapolis and St. Paul), Northern California, Southern California, Colorado, Arizona, New York, Michigan, Ohio, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, New Hampshire and North Carolina. Not all retailers will carry them and the quantities are limited, so they truly are a collectable item that benefits a worthy cause. ~ Karen Batista, Editor, FDNNTV.com
