Houston Area Firefighter Wins Harley Davidson Motorcycle in NFFF Full Throttle Sweepstakes
Washington, D. C. "And the winner is…" Veteran firefighter Brian Vickers of Katy, Texas may soon be riding his new Harley-Davidson motorcycle to work having won a nationwide contest benefiting the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Vickers' was chosen from a list of nearly 12,000 entries to NFFF's Full Throttle Support Sweepstakes, a 90-day fundraising effort that collected $135,000 to be used in support of the non-profit organization's goal of providing assistance to families of fallen firefighters. Earlier in the year fire truck builder Pierce Manufacturing, Inc. and Harley-Davidson Motor Company announced they were partnering with NFFF to offer a custom, one-of-a-kind Fat Boy Firefighter Special Edition motorcycle. After taking possession of the keys to his new motorcycle Vickers, a 16-year veteran firefighter currently working for the Westlake Volunteer Fire department in Houston, Texas said, "I still can't believe that I've won. It's an amazing machine and I can't wait to take it on a ride." Said Vickers, "It's really great that this sweepstakes helps such a worthy cause which is why I entered in the first place. The work of the NFFF is so important." Vickers says his wife and he are big believers in higher education, and they're especially impressed by the scholarships NFFF is providing to surviving family members. Vickers was flown to the nation's capitol city to participate in a special ceremony held at the D.C. Fire & EMS Department, Engine 3 firehouse. Those who entered the nationwide sweepstakes made a donation of $10.00 or more per entry. Watch a video on the NFFF Full Throttle Sweepstakes here. Author:Bill Lorin - FDNNTV.com
