Stryker EMS Equipment has been saving paramedics, EMT's, firefighters and other EMS personnel from job-related lifting injuries with their revolutionary lines of ambulance cots and stair chairs. According to Stryker their Power-Pro Ambulance Cots and Stair-Pro Stair Chairs have saved EMS agencies from approximately 3,000 lbs of heavy lifting per crew member per shift. This has lowered worker's compensation claims and insurance premiums in departments across the United States, and has prevented many paramedics and EMT's from ending their careers prematurely due to lifting injuries.

The Stryker Power-Pro Ambulance Cot has a battery-powered marine-grade hydraulic lift system that can be used in a variety of situations ranging from urban EMS calls to transports in unforgiving terrain. These gurneys can be raised and lowered in five seconds, and this time is cut in half when sensors detect that there is no weight on the wheels. It can retract in 2.4 seconds, saving first responders valuable time in emergency situations. The cot's Dewalt battery system last for approximately 20 calls and is rechargeable. The gurney weighs 120 lbs. and can carry a maximum load of 700 lbs. Its patented collapsible head section makes it easier to maneuver in tight spaces such as bathrooms. Its oversize wheels give it 360 degree mobility, and its X-frame prevents hot drops. Stryker estimates that its Power-Pro Ambulance Cots will last for 7 to 10 years or more.

Keeping with its innovative line of patient transportation products, Stryker EMS Equipment also offers the Stair-Pro Stair Chair. While there are two versions of the chair, they both operate upon the principles of friction. Patients are transported down stairways at a 45 degree angle and the speed of the transport is determined by the weight of the patient, so that heavier subjects move down the stairs more slowly. One version of the chair is operated by 2 people and carries up to 500 lbs. The evacuation model can be easily operated by one person and accommodates 200 lbs.

Two other popular products manufactured by Stryker include a manual-powered bariatric transfer cot that can transport up to 850 lbs of weight at its highest position and up to 1600 lbs. of weight in its lowest position. The Stryker Power-Pro Powered Incubator Transport assists nurses as they move the heavy incubators of neonatal patients.
