Karen Batista reviews the Augmented Reality Training Unit, a high-tech alternative to live burn training.  This mobile training unit, manufactured by Resolve Fire & Hazard Response, Inc., travels to departments throughout the United States assisting Training Officers as they teach their firefighters everything from the basics of fighting a structure fire to handling a major HAZMAT incident or a the fallout of a Weapons of Mass Destruction attack.  Powered by a mulit-million dollar computer program, this unit is becoming a popular training tool, as it reduces the liability, mess and downtime usually associated with live burn training.  Up until recently, this technology was only available to Department of Defense Fire Fighters, but Resolve Fire & Hazard Response has made it possible for every fire fighter to access this type of training.

For more information on how to schedule a training event with the Augmented Reality Training Unit, please visit the Resolve Fire & Hazard Response website or call Keith Wilson, the Augmented Reality Training Coordinator at 954-658-6641.

I had the awesome experiance of going through this unit in Deming New mexico at Sunshine Volunteer fire department. I have to say that it was the most real experience one person could go through without the water, yet we did go through it with out radios and with our bunker hear. I have been strongly encourageing our chief to ask these men back with their unit this year as I cannot wait to go through it again. The men that run this unit are awesome instructors and even had the patients for us girls lol. ~ Lace Byrne
