Inflatable Fire Safety House Review

Inflatable Images, an Ohio-based company, manufactures inflatable fire safety houses to help fire departments teach children about fire prevention and safety.  Together with the Brunswick Fire Department, the company designed several models of the inflatable houses using graphics from the Department of Homeland Security's fire prevention website to teach kids important safety messages.

The graphics include DHS sayings and cartoon drawings to illustrate the messages, which include "Never put anything over a lamp", "Do not cook alone or without asking an adult," and "Call 911 only if there is an emergency, and know your address."

Hector Marinaro, a sales representative from Inflatable Images, says, "It's a proven fact that kids retain more information when they are having fun, and what more way to have fun than with an inflatable bouncer."

In order to get children to read and learn the information, the Brunswick Fire Department came up with an effective method.  Before the kids are allowed to play in the inflatable fire safety house, a fire department officer gets inside the house with the children and goes through a safety presentation with them, highlighting all of the messages found on the walls.  They are then allowed to play inside the unit for a little while.  Each time they want to get back inside the house to play, they are required to repeat back one of the messages they learned during the presentation.

Inflatable Images offers several models of the inflatable fire safety houses.  Their most popular model features a bouncy floor, stairs up to a second story, window and door exits, and a fire engine slide. 

The company also offers a wheelchair accessible model of the inflatable fire safety house.  This version comes with a smoke additive and two window and two door exits, so that firefighters can simulate a house fire and teach children what to do if their house were to catch on fire. 

The inflatable fire safety houses range in price from $10,000 to $21,000.

Inflatable Images also manufactures 6' to 10' inflatable donation boots with custom artwork.  These range in price from $1,000 to $1,450.

The company has recently released some new products including a fire engine slide that is $8,000 and a new small safety bouncer for $4000.

According to Hector Marinaro, a well-maintained inflatable product should last from 6 to 10 years.  Inflatable Images has offered these new fire safety products for the past year, and they are currently in use by several United States fire departments and on US military bases overseas.
