Loading Cool Medics provides first responders across the United States with relief on hot days and after dealing with the intense heat of fighting fires. This California-based company manufactures a line of cooling vests, blankets and other apparel for firefighters and paramedics. Activating a Cool Medics vest is a simple process. The user merely douses it in cold water for ten seconds, rings out the excess water, and dons the vest. All of their products work similarly. According to Frank Gordon, President of Cool Medics, the wearer does not get wet, and the vest will keep them cool for six to eight hours. Gordon recommends that firefighters and paramedics carry the Cool Medics Rehab Bucket on their emergency apparatus. The Rehab Bucket contains one Cooling Blanket, one Cooling Vest, one Cooling Cap, and one Cooling Collar. According to Gordon, first responders merely need to put water in the bucket at the start of their shift, place it on their emergency vehicle, and then when they arrive at an incident where they need to use the cooling products, they are cool and ready for use. At a time when budgets are tight, Cool Medics provides a cost savings opportunity for fire and EMS agencies. The company provides a range of products at reasonable prices, with the Cool Medics Rehab Bucket costing $230. With a life-span of five to six years, the product saves money and natural resources, as Gordon says, "You don't need ice. You don't need electricity. You don't need ice packs. You don't need refrigerators. You just need water." While Cool Medics is popular among firefighters and EMS personnel, it is used in a wide variety of applications. Law enforcement agents, the US Military, construction workers, jockeys, children, and even horses and canines wear Cool Medics' products. Cool Medics was originally developed for hospitals and healthcare providers. Frank Gordon says, "It was originally thought of for the medical industry for people who have heat stress, burn victims, and those kinds of people." Since its inception the company has expanded its lines to include their canine products, crystal embellished vests for women, and fire resistant products for firefighters. All of the company's products are manufactured in the United States. For more information about Cool Medics, including ordering information, visit www.coolmedics.com or www.coolmedicsmilitary.com. |
