Suspect Arrested For Arson That Injured Sacamento Firefighters
Sacramento Fire Investigators and Sacramento Police Detectives arrested 44-year-old Robert Durst for an arson that injured four fighters. On July 5, 2010, at 9:47 a.m., Sacramento Fire fighters responded to 3820 25th Avenue on a possible gas leak. When Fire Fighters entered the residence an explosion occurred resulting in four Fire Fighters being injured. Fire Investigator determined that a gas valve inside the residence was left on and an open flame device had been found on the floor. Based on these facts it was determined that the explosion was a deliberate act. The Sacramento Fire Department Investigators worked closely with the Sacramento Police Department, Alcohol Tobacco and Firearm, and PG&E. Based on the collaborative effort, information was obtained that linked the neighbors as possibly being involved. On July 19, 2010, Fire Investigators along with Sacramento Police Detectives, Alcohol Tobacco and Firearm served two search warrants in the 3800 block of 25th Avenue. Investigators believed that Durst had an ongoing dispute with the owners of the residence that exploded over payment for work completed in 2009. Based on the evidence located and additional follow up investigators connected Robert Durst as being responsible for the arson. On July 20, 2010, at approximately 3:00 a.m., investigators arrested Robert Durst for arson. A press conference will be held at Fire and Police Headquarters today at 12:00 noon, 5770 Freeport Blvd Sacramento CA. 95822. Author:Sacramento Fire Department Press Release
