Vet Donates Pet Oxygen Masks To Portland Fire & Rescue
Portland Fire & Rescue (PF&R) received a special donation Saturday. Over the past several months, Veterinarian Krissy Bussmann and her staff at the Mt. Tabor Veterinary Care have been offering spaying and neutering services for pets for a donation. The money donated was used to purchase two pet oxygen mask kits that were then given to PF&R.

During the presentation at Station 9, Dr. Bussmann demonstrated how to use the pet oxygen masks, according to the department. Currently all Battalion Chiefs carry pet resuscitation kits on their vehicles so they are easily accessed and used at the scene of a fire.

In May and June, firefighters used these kits at house fires to successfully revive two dogs suffering from smoke inhalation.
